Freed US pastor thanks Trump, who hails ‘tremendous step’ with Turkey







American pastor Andrew Brunson on Saturday thanked President Donald Trump for his efforts to facilitate his release after two years in detention in Turkey on terror-related charges, in a hero’s welcome at the White House.
Trump called Brunson’s return home a “tremendous step” forward in relations with Ankara. The two NATO allies suffered a major diplomatic rift over the detention of Brunson, an evangelical Presbyterian minister.
